Coaches
Katrin Lehtinen has a 14-year background in figure skating. She began her coaching career at a skating school and eventually became the coordinator for recreational skating and a figure skating coach at Lahden Taitoluistelijat. In this role, she was responsible for recreational skating and development groups for several years.
Currently, Katrin works as a school assistant in a primary school and also undertakes long and short-term teaching assignments.
She holds qualifications as a sports advisor, school assistant, and Level 1 figure skating coach. In her coaching, she emphasizes meeting each skater where they are, ensuring equality, and teaching fundamental skills to build a strong foundation for more advanced elements. She believes that the demands and versatility of figure skating require diverse training from the very beginning of a skater's journey.
Katrin has worked alongside Lumi Kiuru as a coaching partner and is excited to continue this collaboration, appreciating Lumi's passion for the sport.
Lumi Kiuru has 12 years of experience in figure skating and 7 years in synchronized skating. She continues to practice in an adult figure skating group. Her greatest strengths in skating have always been performance and music interpretation.
She holds qualifications as a coach (VAT and VEAT), sports advisor, advanced-level figure skating coach, basic-level synchronized skating coach, and figure skating club judge.
Lumi began her coaching career in 2014 in Lahti, where she collaborated effectively with Katrin for several years. Since 2020, she has been coaching at Tikkurilan Taitoluisteluklubi (TTK) in Tikkurila. She manages four of her own groups: the youth light competition group T1, the pre-competition group Kilpurit, and recreational groups ShowSkate and Mini ShowSkate. She is also weekly involved in coaching other figure skating competition groups and oversees the recreational and skating school activities.
Lumi enjoys creating competition programs and other choreography on ice and in dance. She also serves as a judge in star assessment competitions.
In coaching, her three key principles are positivity, approachability, and equality.
She is thrilled to realize the dream of having their own camp with Katrin. At their camp, everyone can train at their own level, aiming for goals with full commitment or a more relaxed attitude.
